Do your part to keep the circle together!
Follow lead drummer's hands. That's one of the many reasons that I bop in my seat (or standing) when I'm running a circle; the drummer's on the outside can follow me if they don't follow my hands.
Only play as fast as you can keep tempo. If you are trying to play too many beats and cannot keep up with the tempo of the circle, play fewer beats, even if it means that you only play the doom or nothing at all.
We play repeating rhythms; the rhythm will be back around.
If you can't keep up, don't try. You might not be able to keep with the circle because of being tired, sore, cold--as we play many of these circles at night outside--or less practiced than those in the circle. (Some of us have been drumming for more than four decades.)
